TERRORISM AWARENESS & PREVENTION


Terrorism Awareness and Prevention (TAP) training is primarily intended for distribution by local law enforcement is designed to: Provide residents with critical information on terrorist goals and threats; Teach residents about terrorism to prevent abuses from ignorance or prejudice; Demonstrate how residents may help protect themselves, their families and neighborhoods through safety and security planning; Encourage partnerships with residents, law enforcement, first responders and community services provides, and; Identify ways Ohioans can actively participate in building safer neighborhoods and communities.

This presentation is meant to provide you with critical information on terrorist goals and threats; teach you how to observe and report suspicious activity and prepare for emergencies or potential acts of terrorism. This TAP program is an updated version of the original TAP Program that OCPA presented several years ago.

Overview of the program:

1. The Impact: How we act, think and feel differently because of terrorism

2. How Terrorists Operate: How terrorists prepare and implement their goals

3. Types of Terrorism: The various forms of today’s terrorist acts

4. The Threats: What groups are supporting terrorist activities

5. Observe & Report: Reasonable ways to practice heightened awareness and report

6. Be Ready: Effective planning tips for a potential terrorist act – or any emergency.

7. Get Involved: Beyond this program . . . challenging you to get involved in your community.
