The Ohio Crime Prevention Association will be presenting a three-day Introduction to Crime Prevention Course for sworn and non-sworn professionals interested in beginning crime prevention initiatives or those interested in refreshing their knowledge. Effective Crime Prevention has been seen as a key strategy in reducing crime and violence in our communities. This comprehensive course is designed to address local community needs, ranging from physical security to violence prevention. The course is tailored to the needs of today’s crime prevention and community policing practitioners, with a strong emphasis on programmatic initiatives. It provides practitioners with the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to perform their jobs successfully.

Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it. Crime Prevention means working in partnership, rather than in isolation, and working with concerned citizens to address ways to prevent crime and drug abuse. It means communities and individual citizens learning how to protect themselves and to work together to keep their neighborhoods crime and drug-free. It means law enforcement working with communities, businesses, and service organizations to develop action plans based on information about crime and other problems.

Professional Resource & Development: Community programs, youth issues and

programs, crime analysis, crime prevention marketing, presentation and facilitation, time management, identity, and growing potential leaders, challenges

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design: Security Surveys

Physical Security: Burglary prevention, facility security, farm/rural crime prevention, loss prevention

Personal Safety and Security: Personal safety, crime prevention for youth, crime

prevention for seniors, prevention of cyber-crimes, violence prevention

INSTRUCTORS

Instructors are known in their profession throughout Ohio with multiple years of expertise in law enforcement, crime prevention, and loss prevention. All instructors for this course are Ohio Certified Crime Prevention Specialists, are active in their profession, and are members of and certified to instruct by the Ohio Crime Prevention Association.

TRAINING INFORMATION

$375.00 for the 3-day course. Training will be held daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an open lunch break. The Crime Prevention Specialist Exam (CPS) is included with registration cost and will be offered on the last day of the course. Training registration includes: training materials, networking opportunities, a certificate of completion upon successful exam passing, a CPS certificate, and a uniform pin. And, Ohio BMV produced a CPS license plate. Lodging is the responsibility of each attendee. Also included is a one-year membership to OCPA. Note: To maintain your CPS certification, you must stay current with your OCPA membership.

The special group rate of $139.00 plus applicable taxes per night is available through April 14th 2027 at 11:59 p.m. or until all blocked rooms have been reserved, whichever comes first.

PAYMENT: All guests must provide a card when making a reservation. This card will only be charged if a guest does not show up on their arrival date. Otherwise, all guests are asked for a method of payment upon arrival that will pay for their stay.

Exhibitor Table

We would like to invite all interested exhibitors to display their services and products on Monday, March 23rd through Tuesday, March 24th at the conference exhibitor showcase. Exhibit hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. The exhibitor showcase will be held in the open area where lunch will be served to attendees and will give your organization the opportunity to share your resources with crime prevention practitioners from throughout the Midwest.

Exhibitor space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Exhibitor benefits include a conference registration list including email addresses, invitations to evening networking events, and a listing in the conference program.

Exhibitor space includes one eight-foot table, two chairs, access to a 5-amp electrical drop, and free Wi-Fi.
